The judges at the annual Greene County Fair queen contest have their work cut out for them, as six young women are vying for the title of Fair Queen and the privilege of representing the county at the State Fair queen contest next month.
The contestants are all students or graduates of Greene County High School.
Emily Bettey is a 2018 graduate. She is the daughter of Bob and Misty Bettey of Scranton. She has been involved in cross-country and basketball and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Gina Brown is in the class of 2019. She is the daughter of Doug Brown and Teresa Groves Brown. She is an 8-year member of the Greenbrier 4-H club, a 2-year member of the 4-H Young Leaders, and a 3-year member of FFA. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and plays club volleyball.
Emily Finch graduated from high school in May. She is the daughter of Dale and Jane Finch of Jefferson. She is a 14-year member of the competition team at Rhythm Room Dance Center. She was a member of the Hardin Clovers 4-H club for eight years and of the local FFA chapter for four years. She ran on the Ram cross-country and track teams three years.
Samantha Hardaway is a 2018 graduate. She is the daughter of Dan and Stacy Hardaway of Jefferson. She is a longtime 4-H member and a member of the 4-H Young Leaders. She was active in student council and FCCLA, performed in plays and musicals, played basketball, volleyball and softball, and coached AAU teams.
Regan Lamoureux graduated in May. She is the daughter of Jeff and Jill Lamoureux of Jefferson. In high school she was active in student council, National Honor Society, Interact, and group and individual speech. She also played basketball and ran on the cross-country team. She participated in 4-H seven years.
Kara Reed is in the class of 2019. She is the daughter of David and Shelly Reed of rural Jefferson. She is an 8-year 4-H member and a 2-year member of the 4-H Young Leaders. She is president of the local FFA chapter and is a member of National Honor Society and FCCLA. She has been on the Ram track team five years.
The 2018 Greene County Fair queen contest and coronation will be held Friday, July 13, at 6:30 pm at Clover Hall on the fairgrounds. Ann Cunningham is superintendent for the contest.
